Frequently asked questions

What is Fine Silver?

Fine silver, also known as silver clay, is almost pure silver at .999%. The remaining .001% is copper, other trace elements and a binder.
Silver clay consists of pure silver in powder form, which has had water and a binder added to make it into a clay-like substance. Once the jeweller has created a piece of jewellery, the water and binder are burnt off leaving just the almost pure silver behind.
Silver clay is malleable allowing the jeweller to sculpt, form, mould and shape the clay in ways that are not achievable when using silver sheet and enables the jeweller to employ an additional range of skills and techniques.

Bracelets

Please check the size in the listing.
Most bracelets are now made to the average, standard size of 7 inches, although I do occasionally make larger sizes. If you wish to order a different size, please put your wrist size in the "Personalisation" box or contact me if you have any questions. Please allow extra time for your jewellery to be made and delivered if you are ordering a specific size. I suggest three weeks minimum as your bracelet will also need to be sent away for hallmarking.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

We offer a gift-wrapping service as an optional extra, which includes a complementary gift card bearing a message of your choice. Please send us an email with your message.
This option is a separate listing.
We also offer to send your gift directly to the recipient - see delivery options below.

How will my jewellery be packed?

All of our jewellery comes carefully packed in our elegant, black gift box with silver branding, ready to give or to keep. The jewellery is covered in tissue to protect it on its journey to you or your recipient.

Will my piece be hallmarked?

In the UK, any single item of silver jewellery that weighs 7.78g or over needs to be hallmarked.
Anything below this weight does not need to be hallmarked this includes earrings where the total weight may be 7.78g or over, but each single earring weighs less than 7.78g.
I only hallmark the pieces which legally require it in an attempt to keep prices for the smaller items down.

What does Gold Fill & Rose Gold Fill actually mean?

“Gold filled" (or "rolled gold") comprises a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as jeweller’s brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 5% the weight of the total item. It is very hard wearing and, under normal wear, the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plated which is much thinner. Gold Filled is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold.

Do you solder your jump rings?

No, I do not. There are three main reasons for this.
No matter how good at soldering the jeweller is, you will always be able to see a slightly raised area where the ring has been soldered which, I think, can spoil the look of the piece.
Secondly, if you catch your bracelet on a door handle or something similar, the unsoldered rings will open causing far less injury than if they were soldered shut.
Lastly, the time involved in soldering each and every link would have a huge impact on the price of the jewellery, making it far more costly for very little benefit.

What are my delivery options?

Delivery is free to UK customers only.
Items are sent by 2nd Class Royal Mail delivery and take approximately 1-3 working days to arrive. I no longer send tracked and signed for since the increase in postage costs, but I do obtain a proof of posting.
There is also an option to upgrade to next day delivery if you order early enough in the morning and the item is in stock.

All items are sent by default to the billing address of the buyer. However, if you are purchasing a gift and wish us to send it directly to your recipient, please send us a convo/email to request this at the time of purchase.

The Rest of the World flat rate at current prices. Takes approximately 5-7 working days depending upon location.

What are your ear wires made of?

All ear wires are sterling silver. In a fine silver piece, they may be fine silver, but it is always stated in the item listing.

What about chains?

All chains are sterling silver and are included in the price of the item.
I do not use expensive silver chains as most people already have a chain or would prefer to choose their own.
I do not offer chains for sale separately.
Some pieces, the fine silver jewellery in particular, may have a fancy or special chain as part of the design.
